Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements regarding Venezuela after the Cabinet meeting. President Erdoğan’s statement is as follows:
“Regarding the Venezuela issue, we are striving to do what is best and most right for both Türkiye and the Venezuelan people. Mr. Maduro and the Venezuelan people have shown many times that they are friends of our nation. As two friendly countries, we have given importance and priority to being in solidarity with each other during difficult times. We are acting with the same understanding today. It is a fact that violating the sovereign rights of countries and breaking international law are risky steps that can lead to serious complications at the global level.”
“In a world where the rule of power prevails over the rule of law, instability, crisis, and conflict are inevitable. As Türkiye, we never want chaos, turmoil, or tension in our region or elsewhere. The preservation of a rules-based international system is therefore crucial. In today’s cabinet meeting, we thoroughly evaluated the Venezuela case in light of the updated information compiled by our relevant departments. In our telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, we also conveyed our country’s concerns to him. We emphasized that Venezuela should not be dragged into instability. Türkiye and the Turkish people will continue to stand by the friendly Venezuelan people in their struggle for prosperity, peace, and development.”
