The Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Nurlan Yermekbayev, sent a letter of condolence to Iranian President Masoud Pazeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi for the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other officials and civilians killed in the US-Israeli attack in Iran.
On March 1, 2026, in light of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s declaration of national mourning for the assassination of its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and to express condolences to the victims of recent unfortunate events, the Secretariat of the SCO lowered its flag to half-mast.
