
On Wednesday (March 25), Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone conversation. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on the current situation in the Middle East. China expressed its clear support for Turkey’s constructive role in promoting Middle East peace talks, while both sides emphasized the need to end the regional conflict as soon as possible.
Wang Yi stated that the right and wrong of the conflicts in the Middle East are extremely clear, and that the international community should adopt an objective and fair stance on the matter. Noting that the conflicts are currently spreading rapidly and affecting the entire region, Wang Yi stressed that the most urgent priority is to actively promote negotiation through mediation, explore the possibility of peace, and ensure that the flames are extinguished.
Wang stated that China supports regional countries acting cautiously, pursuing their long-term and fundamental interests, responding rationally to the current crisis, and maintaining their commitment to resolving disputes through dialogue. During the meeting, Wang noted China’s support for Turkey playing a constructive role in restarting negotiations.
Both sides underscored the urgent need to end the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and exchanged views on diplomatic efforts to promote a ceasefire. The two foreign ministers agreed that the smooth functioning of transportation routes, energy supplies, and global supply chains is vital for regional and global stability.
Furthermore, the two sides exchanged views on their bilateral cooperation agendas, focusing on cooperation in areas such as developing bilateral economic and trade relations and mutual investments.
