Vladimir Norov, former Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan and former Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), emphasized in a LinkedIn post that the Turkish Investment Fund (TIF) could make significant contributions to the development of the Middle Corridor. The Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route), including the Zangezur Corridor \/ TRIPP, has become a strategic priority amid global supply-chain reconfiguration and rising East\u2013West trade<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Its relevance is no longer in question \u2014 the key challenge today is capacity, efficiency, and integration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this context, the Turkic Investment Fund (TIF) is well positioned to play a catalytic role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With an initial capital of USD 600 million and plans to scale up through capital increases and international markets.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under a conservative scenario, TIF\u2019s capital could grow to USD 1\u20131.5 billion by 2030, while a favorable market and geopolitical environment could enable even stronger expansion<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Importantly, the Fund emphasizes capital growth linked to project performance, which enhances credibility and long-term sustainability<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TIF can contribute in several critical ways:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From transport route to economic corridor<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

By investing not only in railways, ports, and logistics hubs, but also in customs digitalization, energy security, and digital connectivity, TIF can help turn the Middle Corridor into an integrated economic ecosystem rather than a standalone transit route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De-risking strategic projects<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cross-border infrastructure projects often suffer from coordination and political risks<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TIF\u2019s co-financing alongside DFIs and IFIs can reduce these risks, crowd in private capital, and unlock larger investments than its balance sheet alone would allow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digitalization as a force multiplier<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As recent data shows, freight volumes on the Trans-Caspian route grew sharply in 2024, and with the right investments could reach 11 million tons by 2030<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digital customs, e-documentation, and cross-border data exchange can significantly boost throughput without proportional capital spending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aligning national priorities with regional connectivity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

By linking corridor investments with national development goals \u2014 including post-conflict reconstruction and inclusive growth \u2014 TIF strengthens political ownership and long-term sustainability<\/p>\n\n\n\n
