Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum made various visits in China. Murat Kurum held meetings with the Chinese Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Ni Hong, the Chinese Minister of Ecology and Environment, Huang Runqiu, the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Zou Jiayi, and the Chairman of the Silk Road Fund, Zhu Jun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister Kurum’s visit to China was part of climate and environmental diplomacy. During his visit, Kurum opened the door to new collaborations between Turkey and China, and observed China’s development vision and experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey and China will cooperate at COP31<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Following his meeting with the Chinese Minister of Ecology and Environment, Huang Runqiu, Murat Kurum stated on his X account: \u201cWe will cooperate with China at COP31, which has already shown that clear policies aligned with climate goals can produce strong results. By sharing our COP31 vision, we evaluated the process as an important turning point where climate action is accelerated, access to finance is strengthened, and tangible results are produced. I believe that the ties between the two countries will make significant contributions to our sustainable environmental goals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following its meeting with Runqiu, Kurum held meetings with Zhu Jun, Chairman of the Silk Road Fund Board of Directors, and Zou Jiayi, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). In a statement, Kurum said, \u201cWe discussed our experience in reconstruction in the earthquake zone through the \u2018Construction Mobilization of the Century,\u2019 our COP31 vision, and our goal of resilient cities. We shared Turkey\u2019s strong cooperation perspective in the areas of environment, climate change, sustainable infrastructure, and urban resilience. In the run-up to COP31, we will continue to strengthen joint efforts in many areas, from climate finance to energy transition, from resilient cities to the circular economy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following its meeting with the AIIB President, Kurum shared on its social media account: \u201cWe evaluated the world\u2019s largest reconstruction process we are conducting in the earthquake zone, our COP31 vision, and our climate-resilient development goals. As Turkey, we believe that the strong cooperation we have developed with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank will expand concrete projects in the areas of resilient cities, clean energy, and sustainable infrastructure, and will make significant contributions to the global climate struggle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
