
On December 15, Consul General Özlem Kural visited Shanghai University and exchanged views with senior university officials on diversifying areas of cooperation, primarily focusing on cooperation in education and mutual student exchange.
Following the meeting, Consul General Kural also visited the Center for Turkish Studies at Shanghai University. She met and chatted with undergraduate, graduate, PhD students, and academicians at Shanghai University. During the cordial conversation, Consul General Kural met with Turkish students and listened to their research areas. After the discussions, Kural emphasized that next year will mark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between Turkey and China, highlighting the possibilities for bilateral cooperation. Potential joint publications, events, and programs were discussed. Emphasis was placed on the scarcity of Chinese-language textbooks and publications on Turkey’s foreign policy, highlighting the importance of translation efforts from Turkish to Chinese. Professor Yang Chen, Director of Center for Turkish Studies at Shanghai University, expressed his pleasure at the prospect of bilateral cooperation, emphasizing the university’s successful work in Turkish studies. Following this, Consul General Özlem Kural presented gifts to the Center for Turkish Studies. In turn, Institute Director Yang Chen presented Consul General Kural with gifts and books on the Ottoman Empire published by the institute’s academicians. After a group photo, Consul General Kural concluded her visit.
