Arrival Card: This is a form that visitors to China fill out upon arrival at passport control, including passport information, flight arrival information, and contact information such as phone number and accommodation details.
Starting November 20, 2025, China has made it possible for foreigners arriving in China to fill out their entry information online before arrival via the official NIA website, the State Service Platform, the “NIA 12367” app, the WeChat (Alipay) mini-program, or by scanning a QR code with their mobile phones.
Foreigners who cannot fill out their information online beforehand can complete the process upon arrival at immigration control points in Chinese ports by scanning a QR code with their mobile phones, using smart devices at the port, or by filling out a paper Arrival Card.
The following 7 types of foreigners may be exempt from completing the Arrival Card:
a. Holders of a People’s Republic of China Foreign Permanent Resident Identity Card;
b. Holders of a Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macau Residents (Non-Chinese Citizens);
c. Holders of a group visa or those with group visa-free entry rights;
d. e. Direct passage within 24 hours without leaving the restricted area of the port;
f. Entry and exit on the same passenger ship; g. Entry via high-speed lanes; h. Foreign personnel working on entry-exit transportation vehicles.
