Application Deadline
Program Start: September
Application Deadline: April 30, 2026 for the September term. Shanghai Government Scholarship Application Period: January 16 – March 30, 2026.
Program Duration
1) Academic Master’s: 3 years.
2) Professional Master’s Degree: 2 years (Master’s in Translation and Interpreting 2.5 years, Law (non-legal profession) 3 years).
3) English-taught Master’s programs: 2 years.
Qualifications
- Age limit: 55 years old.
- Master’s Degree (Chinese): Applications are open to foreign nationals who are university graduates, have completed a bachelor’s degree, have reliable financial support and stability, and are in good health. Applicants must have a Chinese language proficiency of HSK 5 (at least 180 in total) or provide documentation of more than two years of Chinese language study. A good level of English proficiency meeting the requirements of undergraduate studies is also required.
- Master’s Degree (English): Applications are open to foreign nationals who are university graduates, have completed a bachelor’s degree, have reliable financial support and stability, and are in good health. A good level of English proficiency is required (IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent English proficiency level for foreign candidates). ★During their studies at SISU, students must not enroll in any undergraduate program at other universities in China after September 2026.
★If you have previously studied or lived in China, you must not have a record of any legal or disciplinary violations.
Entrance Examination
The entrance exam consists of a written and an oral exam and is held from the end of March to the beginning of June. The exact date and schedule of the exam will be notified by the university via email.
Application Documents and Procedures
1) Complete the application form online (http://apply.shisu.edu.cn). Application Documents: 1) Original or notarized copy of diploma and academic records (English or Chinese). Candidates nearing graduation may submit a graduation certificate.
2) Photocopy of HSK certificate for programs taught in Chinese and English Language Proficiency Certificate for programs taught in English.
3) Photocopy of passport.
4) A personal statement of approximately 1000 words, written in Chinese or a language that meets the academic requirements of the program, including education and work experience, research results, and a study plan.
5) Indexes and abstracts of published articles and other materials documenting your research capabilities.
6) Criminal Record Certificate.
7) Letters of Recommendation. Two letters of recommendation from professors or associate professors (written in Chinese or English only) must be submitted.
8) Physical Examination Record (required for scholarship applicants).
9) Pay the application fee online: 800 RMB (or 130 USD international wire transfer, upload payment receipt).
★SISU will request additional materials from applicants if necessary.★ The application fee and application documents are non-refundable once submitted.
